Under the impetus of the pioneering Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Château Mouton Rothschild saw its reputation grow to become an emblem of the Pauillac appellation. Taking over the reins of the estate in 1992, Baron Philippe de Rothschild was at the origin of major and innovative decisions for his time. As early as 1924, Mouton Rothschild was the first estate in the Bordeaux region to bottle its wine directly at the property, with a mention on the label.
In 1973, Château Mouton de Rothschild became a Premier Grand Cru Classé. Buoyed by her father’s passion and commitment, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild took over in 1988.
